The Port of New York and New Jersey hit record volumes in both rail cargo and overall container throughput for November. Total volume for November 2019 reached 599,626 TEUs (338,857 lifts), a 2.7 percent increase over the 583,880 TEUs (331,242 lifts) posted the previous year. The increase brings the yearly total to 6,886,388 TEUs. The Port of New York and New Jersey set a new record in October 2019, handling 666,381 TEUs (20-foot equivalent units), a 1.2 percent increase over the previous October record of 658,708 TEUs set in 2018.
