Updated Procedures Regarding Hanjin Cargo and Equipment

The following  update concerns the latest procedures for handling Hanjin cargo and equipment at the Port of New York and New Jersey.  M/V Hanjin Miami The Hanjin Miami is expected to dock at Maher Terminals on Thursday, September 22, 2016 for discharge.  Cargo availability information can be found at https://apps.maherterminals.com/csp/homeAction.do?method=login and/or www.porttruckpass.com. Please confirm availability before arranging delivery.  There will be no export containers loaded back onto the Hanjin Miami.  All bookings have been cancelled. Procedures Announcement Regarding Hanjin Cargo and Equipment

As a result of the recent news about Hanjin Shipping’s severe financial difficultly and operating status, the following procedures are currently in place in The Port of New York and New Jersey for Hanjin cargo and equipment. Maher Terminals All Hanjin import deliveries must be pre-paid in either cash or credit, if already established with Maher Terminals. New IMO Regulations on Verified Gross Mass Begin July 1st

The International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) SOLAS VI/2 regulation on verified gross mass (VGM) takes effect on Friday, July 1, 2016, at ports worldwide. All terminals in the Port of New York and New Jersey will provide scale weights for use, at the carrier’s discretion, for export containers arriving to a terminal by truck without a VGM. Under those conditions, a $10 fee may be assessed by the terminals to the ocean carrier. When a shipper has a VGM, please coordinate directly with your ocean carriers for the timing and format for transmitting. Cost Reductions Announced at Port NY & NJ

Port officials today announced cost reductions for use of the Port of New York and New Jersey. Effective May 1, 2016, the container charge for containers whose destination lies within 260 miles of the port has been reduced by 5.3 percent from $94.00 to $89.00 in all trades except in the Bermuda Trade, which retains its rate of $25.00.
