Elizabeth Chassis Depot Provides Greater Efficiency

   Today, two prominent chassis providers in the Port of New York and New Jersey —  TRAC Intermodal and DirectChassisLink, Inc. August 2017 Logs Highest Volumes in Port of NY & NJ History for Overall Monthly and Rail

August 2017 became the best month for cargo volumes in the long and busy history of the Port of New York and New Jersey. The monthly total of 361,565 lifts (631,404 TEUs) crushed the previous monthly high of 339, 601 lifts (588,918 TEUs) logged in July 2015. August 2017 also fared 7.8% better than the previous  year’s volumes (August 2016). At close of August 2017, the port beat 2016 overall lifts by 6.2%. CMA “Pelleas” Makes Port of NY & NJ First Port of Call

On Friday, July 21st, CMA-CGM of Marseille, France added the CMA-CGM Pelleas to the Ocean Alliance’s Loop 3 service calling at APM Terminals at the Elizabeth-Port Authority Marine Terminal in the Port of New York and New Jersey. The 9,900 teu ship is the largest vessel currently operated by CMA-CGM into the port. The Ocean Alliance service is one of six major east west services which comprises the vessel sharing agreement (VSA), operated by the four members of the Ocean Alliance effective April 1, 2017. Port of NY & NJ Reports Cargo Volumes on Record Pace During First Half of 2017

The Port Authority announced today that cargo volumes in the Port of New York and New Jersey are on record pace for 2017. The first six months of this year were 4.4 percent higher than the same period in 2015, when the previous record of 3,093,789 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) was established. Between January and June this year, the port handled 3,229,675 TEUs, compared to 3,041,287 TEUs handled in 2016. Port of NY & NY Welcomes First Vessel Over 13,000 TEUs

On Monday, July 17, Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) of Hong Kong and Salt Lake City, Utah sailed the largest container ship to date into the Port of New York and New Jersey. The OOCL Berlin sailed into Newark Bay to dock at Maher Terminals Berth 68. A 13,208 TEU vessel, the Berlin measures longer than 1,200 feet (or the equivalent of 4 football fields) and is the largest vessel to transit under the newly elevated Bayonne Bridge roadway. To date, the longest ships to call New York and New Jersey terminals have been 1,000 feet long.
