Team Increases Focus on TLD-Sector Job Opportunities

The Port of NY & NJ supports approximately 400,000 jobs in the Transportation, Logistics, and Distribution (TLD) sector. The local TLD industry is responsible for the availability of goods reaching 44 million people living within 4 hours driving distance from the Port of NY & NJ. GCT Bayonne Rolls Out Appointment System at Port of NY & NJ

Following extensive development, testing, and outreach with the drayage community, GCT Bayonne will roll out a Truck Management System (“appointment system”) on a limited basis on Sunday, January 15, 2017.  This is a major milestone for the Port of New York and New Jersey. All transactions at GCT Bayonne between the hours of 0600 and 0800 starting on Sunday, January 15th and every day thereafter will be mandated to have a reservation. Council on Port Performance Creates Workforce Development Team

On September 28, the Council on Port Performance (CPP) voted to create a Workforce Development Implementation Team (WDIT). As part of the Transportation, Logistics, and Distribution (TLD) industry, the CPP acknowledges that a workforce talent shortage could continue to get worse over time. Council members therefore agreed to collaborate with their host communities and port community stakeholders.
