The strengthening economy, re-routed cargo from the West Coast, plus shifting trade routes and business trends have bumped overall cargo volumes more than 10 percent at the Port of New York and New Jersey for the first two months of the year. January volumes rose 7.8 percent over the previous year while February volumes increased by 13.8 percent. For the same two months, the port logged a 15.9 percent increase in total lifts via ExpressRail, the Port Authority’s dedicated rail system. TIANJIN

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey presented a commemorative plaque to Captain I. Wlodarczyk of the Zim Tianjin. To date, the Tianjin is the largest container vessel to call the Port of New York and New Jersey. The Tianjin called at Global GCT Bayonne and discharged cargo in it first rotation through the port. Zim Lines has once again become owner and operator of the vessel after its charter expired with another major ocean carrier. On February, 27, 2015, The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey presented a plaque commemorating the maiden voyage of the Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) Taipei to the vessel’s Master, Captain N.C. Huang. The Taipei called Global Terminal in its first visit from ports in Asia as part of the G6 Vessel Sharing Agreement (VSA).
