The Port Authority approved a three-year extension to the Ocean-Going Clean Vessel Incentive Program funded at $3.12 million on November 19, 2015. Launched in 2013, the program encourages operators of ocean-going vessels to improve their engines, use cleaner fuels, and upgrade their technologies to reduce emissions, which are the largest source of air pollutants at the Port of New York and New Jersey. On Thursday, November 12, 2015, the Port Authority announced the launch of its new Agency Operations Center (AOC) at the Port Authority Technical Center in Jersey City. The AOC will help to achieve a key agency objective of enhancing the regional transportation network for goods and people. Traveler safety will be increased and congestion will be reduced by increasing the efficiency of operations and incident responses across the Port Authority’s entire cross-Hudson transportation network.
