At 48,859 lifts, October intermodal volumes hit an all-time monthly high. Also, when reviewing year-over-year trends, October was the 26th consecutive month for year-over-year rail growth. October rail volumes topped 2014 volumes by 13.8 percent. For the year, rail volume is up 12.5 percent.
Auto volumes also continued to rise in October — up 21.9 percent compared to 2014. For the year, autos are up 23 percent. The increase is due in part to the Auto Incentive Program, which was launched in 2014 to provide financial incentives to auto manufacturers who bring new or increased vehicle business to the port.
