On July 26, 2018, the Port of New York and New Jersey reported a new record for the first half of 2018 with cargo volumes up 6.8 percent over the same time period in 2017, when the previous six-month record was established. To date, the Port handled 3,450,469 TEUs (20-foot equivalent length cargo containers) compared to 3,229,675 TEUs between January and June in 2017. Continuing the streak of strong growth, the Port of New York and New Jersey had its best March in its history. Total volume for March 2018 was 572,576 TEUs. The Port experienced a 12.7 percent growth from March 2017 volume of 508,270 TEUs. The Port saw significant growth in both imported and exported TEU loads.
