Recently, the Port of New York and New Jersey took steps toward ensuring a cleaner, more sustainable New York Harbor by helping move 15 million baby oysters from a waterfront seeding facility at the Brooklyn Port Authority Marine Terminal to their new underwater home at the mouth of the Bronx River. The worldwide pandemic impacted June’s total volume numbers at the Port of New York and New Jersey. In June, the Port had 511,306 TEUs (290,454 lifts) compared to 611,027 TEUs (347,294 lifts) in June 2019, a 16.3 percent decrease in total volume. This number brings our year through June total to 3,365,625 TEUs (1,907,062 lifts), a 7.9 percent decrease from the previous year.
