On Thursday, August 14, staff from The Port Authority’s Port Commerce Department presented a plaque to the captain of the APL Mexico City to commemorate her maiden voyage. Newly delivered from Daewoo’s Okpo shipyard in South Korea June 30th, the APL Mexico City docked at Global Terminals as part of the China East Coast (CEC) service. The Port Authority Board of Commissioners approved a project to upgrade a section of Port Jersey Boulevard on July 23, 2014. Port Jersey Boulevard functions as the main access road to the Global Container Terminal in Jersey City. The section to be upgraded runs through Jersey City, NJ and will allow the port to accommodate future cargo growth while providing environmental benefits. Specifically, the project will provide better access and egress to Port Jersey and Global Container Terminal. June 18 marked the grand opening of Global Container Terminal’s multi-million dollar expansion.
