Beginning on Wednesday, January 27, the Goethals Bridge will institute traffic holds in both directions from 4:30 to 5 a.m., approximately three days per week. The traffic holds, which are expected to continue for about a year, are necessary to accommodate the safe transfer of concrete girders across the Goethals Bridge as part of the Goethals Bridge Replacement Project.
The Bayonne Bridge will open at 4:30 a.m. on affected days to provide an alternate route for Goethals Bridge drivers. The Outerbridge Crossing is another alternate route.
The public will be notified of the traffic holds via variable messaging signs on approaching roadways. In addition, drivers may receive notifications via text message and/or email by signing up or adding Goethals Bridge e-alerts. Visit www.paalerts.com for more information or to modify your existing e-alerts subscription.
Goethals Bridge e-alerts are also posted to our Goethals Bridge Alerts Twitter feed. @PANYNJ_GB
