October Cargo Volumes Remain Strong

Cargo volumes at the Port of New York and New Jersey (PONYNJ) achieved year-over-year growth for the 13th consecutive month in October 2015. October container moves totaled 311,992 units, a 1.7 percent increase over October 2014. October tallies put the port’s year-to-date, container numbers ahead of 2014 by 11 percent, which amounts to an additional 307,373 container units. On the import side, loads for the month totaled 154,667 lifts. While down 1.7 percent from October 2014, import loads remain ahead of 2014 by 9.8 percent.
