A $200 million investment in reinforced berths to prepare itself for the arrival of next- generation, ultra large container ships continues apace at APM Terminals Port Elizabeth at the Port of New York and New Jersey. Port of NY & NJ Welcomes CMA CGM T. Roosevelt, Largest Container Vessel Ever to Call Berths

Today the Port of New York and New Jersey marked the arrival of the CMA CGM Theodore Roosevelt, which passed under the newly raised Bayonne Bridge at approximately 9:30 a.m. to make berth at APM Terminals in Elizabeth, New Jersey. With a total cargo capacity of 14,414 TEUs, the Theodore Roosevelt is the largest container vessel ever to call the port’s berths. CMA “Pelleas” Makes Port of NY & NJ First Port of Call

On Friday, July 21st, CMA-CGM of Marseille, France added the CMA-CGM Pelleas to the Ocean Alliance’s Loop 3 service calling at APM Terminals at the Elizabeth-Port Authority Marine Terminal in the Port of New York and New Jersey. The 9,900 teu ship is the largest vessel currently operated by CMA-CGM into the port. The Ocean Alliance service is one of six major east west services which comprises the vessel sharing agreement (VSA), operated by the four members of the Ocean Alliance effective April 1, 2017. New Port Environmental Projects Highlight Earth Day 2017

To mark this weekend’s celebration of Earth Day 2017, the Port Authority today announced two new environmental initiatives to supplement several existing programs to further reduce emissions and improve air quality around the Port of New York and New Jersey. Under one initiative, the agency will launch a demonstration project with GCT New York and APM Terminals to retrofit two yard tractors for each facility with auto stop-start hybrid technology. Yard tractors account for the largest number of on-terminal vehicles in the port and contribute to 33 percent of all cargo-handling equipment emissions.
