Council on Port Performance to Host Career Awareness and Job Expo

The Port of New York and New Jersey’s Council on Port Performance is hosting a Career Awareness and Job Expo.  The first of its kind, this event will take place on April 18, 2018 from 10 AM to 3 PM at 1400 Corbin Street, Elizabeth, New Jersey. In 2017, the Port of NY & NJ: Raised the Roadbed of the Bayonne Bridge and welcomed the CMA CGM T. Roosevelt, a 14,414 TEU container ship and the largest vessel ever to call our berths. Council on Port Performance Creates Workforce Development Team

On September 28, the Council on Port Performance (CPP) voted to create a Workforce Development Implementation Team (WDIT). As part of the Transportation, Logistics, and Distribution (TLD) industry, the CPP acknowledges that a workforce talent shortage could continue to get worse over time. Council members therefore agreed to collaborate with their host communities and port community stakeholders. The WDIT will strive to develop deeper understanding of the port’s value to the supply chain, economic growth, workforce development, and long-term viability of the maritime industry.
