Beginning Monday, April 18, the Bayonne Bridge’s schedule of Monday-through-Thursday overnight closures will begin an hour and a half earlier – at 7 p.m., rather than 8:30 p.m. The bridge’s weekday schedule of daytime and overnight closures will otherwise remain the same, as follows: Except when announced otherwise, the Bayonne Bridge currently closes on Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and overnight on Mondays through Thursdays from 8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.  The only pending change is that, starting April 18, these overnight closures will begin at 7 p.m.   The bridge will also continue to close at varying times on weekends. Due to ongoing construction at the NJ Turnpike Interchange 14A, the traffic patterns for the Toll Plaza will shift effective November 9, 2015.  All traffic headed to GCT Bayonne must use the far left lanes of the Toll Plaza. At their meeting on June 25, 2015, the Port Authority Board of Commissioners approved a $65.1 million project to overhaul signage for the George Washington Bridge. The action entails upgrading and replacing the current Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) with variable message signs, vehicle detectors, traffic cameras, travel time readers, and a weather information station that connects to the TRANSCOM network.
