As a top tier port, the Port of New York and New Jersey can handle the industry’s newest and largest vessels. On August 20, 2019, it welcomed ONE IBIS, a state-of-the-art 14,000 TEU class vessel built in 2016, to the Global Container Terminal (GCT) Bayonne. On Friday, July 19, Cape Akritas arrived on its maiden voyage at Maher Terminals at the Elizabeth Port Authority Marine Terminal (EPAMT). The ship’s arrival also marked the first visit for Captain Strongylis Evangelos, a 19-year veteran, along with his 24-person multinational crew.
