Rail Cargo as a Share of Overall Cargo Continues to Grow in April
For the month of April, the Port of New York and New Jersey’s rail business continues to demonstrate growth as the total rail volume, January through April, is 6.0 percent greater than in the same period in 2019. From a month to month comparison however, rail volume decreased 0.8 percent from 56,911 last April, to 56,479 containers for April 2020. Total volume for April was 559,929 TEUs (318,389 lifts) versus 605,263 TEUs (344,862 lifts) in April 2019, a 7.5 percent decrease.
