CMA “Pelleas” Makes Port of NY & NJ First Port of Call

On Friday, July 21st, CMA-CGM of Marseille, France added the CMA-CGM Pelleas to the Ocean Alliance’s Loop 3 service calling at APM Terminals at the Elizabeth-Port Authority Marine Terminal in the Port of New York and New Jersey. The 9,900 teu ship is the largest vessel currently operated by CMA-CGM into the port. The Ocean Alliance service is one of six major east west services which comprises the vessel sharing agreement (VSA), operated by the four members of the Ocean Alliance effective April 1, 2017. Port of NY & NY Welcomes First Vessel Over 13,000 TEUs

On Monday, July 17, Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) of Hong Kong and Salt Lake City, Utah sailed the largest container ship to date into the Port of New York and New Jersey. The OOCL Berlin sailed into Newark Bay to dock at Maher Terminals Berth 68. A 13,208 TEU vessel, the Berlin measures longer than 1,200 feet (or the equivalent of 4 football fields) and is the largest vessel to transit under the newly elevated Bayonne Bridge roadway. To date, the longest ships to call New York and New Jersey terminals have been 1,000 feet long.
