The Port of New York and New Jersey hosted a delegation from the Port of Tokyo on July 7, 2025, to celebrate and renew its 45-year sister port collaboration. Port Director Bethann Rooney and Director General Akira Tanaka discussed ongoing projects and future priorities before signing the Sister Port Joint Statement.
Prior to the renewal ceremony, the representatives, which included members from the Bureau of Port and Harbor, Tokyo Port Terminal Co., Tokyo Harbor Transportation Association, Tokyo Port Promotion Association, the Tokyo Warehousing Association, Tokyo Port and Harbor Welfare Association, and the Tokyo Port and Harbor Transportation Business Cooperative Association, visited Port Liberty Bayonne and Cape Liberty Cruise Port.
