A steady surge of cargo contributed to a strong start to 2022 at the Port of New York and New Jersey. Total volume increased by 21.5 percent in February compared to the previous year’s figure, as the seaport moved 759,248 TEUs (417,332 containers) compared to 625,120 TEUs (347,635 containers) in February 2021. The 16-month surge of cargo volume at the Port of New York and New Jersey reached an all-time high in October. A record-breaking 796,704 TEUs (440,514 lifts) were recorded in October, a 5.5 percent increase over the 755,437 TEUs (419,744 lifts) posted in October 2020.
