The Port of New York & New Jersey today announced completion of the port’s $2.1 billion Main Navigation Channel Deepening Program, in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Clean Vessel Incentive Draws Cleanest Vessels to Port of NY & NJ

Launched in January 2016, the Clean Vessel Incentive Program (CVI) continues to attract much cleaner vessels to the Port of New York and New Jersey’s constituent marine terminals. For the second quarter 2016, CVI produced 295 qualifying vessel calls, an increase of 87 percent over the second quarter 2015, and an increase of 16% over the first quarter 2016. Incentives earned for the second quarter 2016 totaled $413,000, an increase of 45 percent over the second quarter 2015. GCT Bayonne Welcomes Maiden Voyage of Hyundai Saturn

On Friday, July 29, Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) sent its first ship in rotation, the Hyundai Saturn, to the Port of New York and New Jersey as part of its five ship commitment to the new “NYX” service calling at GCT Bayonne. An Ultra Large Container Ship (ULCS), the Saturn was on its maiden voyage from the Daewoo Shipyard of Korea after delivery to it owners, Zodiac Maritime of London, England. Port of NY & NJ Welcomes Two Maiden Voyages

Two vessels called the Port of New York and New Jersey as part of their maiden voyages on Friday, July 15. Mitsui OSK Lines’ MOL Beyond called GCT Bayonne from Tokyo, Japan while Hanjin Shipping’s Chongqing called Maher Terminals.   The MOL Beyond is part of Mitsui’s five ship commitment to the new “NYX” service calling GCT Bayonne. Port officials and employees of GCT USA today welcomed the captain and crew of the MOL Benefactor, the first container vessel to transit the expanded Panama Canal locks and visit an East Coast port, and the largest vessel ever to call on the Port of New York and New Jersey.
