ONE IBIS Arrives at the Port of NY & NJ

As a top tier port, the Port of New York and New Jersey can handle the industry’s newest and largest vessels. On August 20, 2019, it welcomed ONE IBIS, a state-of-the-art 14,000 TEU class vessel built in 2016, to the Global Container Terminal (GCT) Bayonne. GCT Bayonne is part of a comprehensive port complex of six container terminals, modern on-dock railroad systems, easy-to-access highways, and nearby distribution centers and warehouses.

ONE IBIS is operated by Ocean Network Express (ONE) and operates within the EC4 service route. EC4 provides the fastest transit between the Port of New York and New Jersey and Asian through the Suez Canal. The ship makes two calls at the port, one focusing on imports and the other on exports before returning foreign. ONE is a member of the Transport High-Efficient (THE) Alliance.

The raising of the Bayonne Bridge and channel deepening have enabled the passage of ships such as the IBIS ONE though  New York Harbor.

On hand for the inaugural visit was Captain Sidhu of ONE IBIS, who was presented with an official plaque to commemorate the visit by Rado Saragih from the Port Authority.

Planning, investment, and development have elevated the competitiveness of the Port of New York and New Jersey and solidified its position a world-class partner in the global shipping industry—making it second only to Los Angeles as the busiest seaport in North America.
