A $200 million investment in reinforced berths to prepare itself for the arrival of next- generation, ultra large container ships continues apace at APM Terminals Port Elizabeth at the Port of New York and New Jersey. Port of NY & NY Welcomes First Vessel Over 13,000 TEUs

On Monday, July 17, Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) of Hong Kong and Salt Lake City, Utah sailed the largest container ship to date into the Port of New York and New Jersey. The OOCL Berlin sailed into Newark Bay to dock at Maher Terminals Berth 68. A 13,208 TEU vessel, the Berlin measures longer than 1,200 feet (or the equivalent of 4 football fields) and is the largest vessel to transit under the newly elevated Bayonne Bridge roadway. To date, the longest ships to call New York and New Jersey terminals have been 1,000 feet long. Governors Cuomo and Christie Announce Opening of Goethals Bridge Eastbound Span

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and Governor Chris Christie today announced that the eastbound lane of the new Goethals Bridge will open to New Jersey-bound traffic late Sunday afternoon, June 11, 2017. Governor Christie Announces Navigational Clearance Achieved at Bayonne Bridge

Governor Chris Christie announced today the early completion of a new navigational clearance level at the Bayonne Bridge. The new clearance of 215 feet will allow environmentally friendly cargo vessels of up to 18,000 TEUs to access marine terminals in Elizabeth, Newark, and Staten Island.
