Port NY & NJ to Reopen Wednesday, March 15, 2017

All terminals at the Port of New York and New Jersey will reopen for business, Wednesday March 15, 2017. Please observe the following specifics: GCT Bayonne will open at 6 AM and require no appointments. AMPT will open at 7 AM. Maher, PNCT, RHCT, & GCTNY will open at 8 AM, as will the Polaris St. Depot.  An important notice for all truckers. Please note: There will be no queuing overnight to facilitate snow removal. Winter Storm Stella to Close Port NY & NJ for Tues, March 14, 2017

To all port patrons: Due to blizzard conditions forecast to affect our region, all terminals at the Port of New York and New Jersey will be closed on March 14, 2017. The port’s Winter Weather Plan will be in effect. January Shatters More Records at Port of NY & NJ

Cargo volumes at the Port of New York and New Jersey beat several records in January 2017. Container volumes hit a new monthly high with a total of 296,432 lifts or 517,668 TEUs for an increase of 8.3 percent over totals logged in January 2016. Loaded import containers hit 149,757 lifts for an increase of 5.5 percent over January 2016. Loaded export containers hit 61,740 lifts for an increase of 8 percent over January 2016. Simulation Confirms Port of NY & NJ Can Handle ULCVs Through 18,000 TEUs

A state-of-the-art computer simulation has confirmed that both new classes of ultra large container vessels (ULCVs) – those handling 14,000 and 18,000 TEUS — can safely navigate the Port of New York and New Jersey. The critical components to facilitate such transits will be communication and coordination among the various port stakeholders, said officials in the Port Department of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
