Cost Reductions Announced at Port NY & NJ

Port officials today announced cost reductions for use of the Port of New York and New Jersey. Effective May 1, 2016, the container charge for containers whose destination lies within 260 miles of the port has been reduced by 5.3 percent from $94.00 to $89.00 in all trades except in the Bermuda Trade, which retains its rate of $25.00. RFP Issued for New Master Plan at Port NY & NJ

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced on Monday April 11, 2016 that it would undertake a comprehensive review of the Port of New York and New Jersey’s more than 3,000 acres of cargo facilities to better evaluate and plan for future growth, improve operations, and enhance revenue plus opportunities for job creation. MSC Welcomes New Amberjack Service

To ensure optimum efficiency, MSC’s Everglades service has been renamed ‘Amberjack’ and restructured in partnership with Maersk to include a call at the Port of New York and New Jersey. The Amberjack service calls Qingdao, Shanghai, Xingang, and Busan through the Panama Canal to Savanah before reaching the Port of New York and New Jersey. February Posts Container, Rail, and Auto Growth at Port NY & NJ

Container lifts for February 2016 were 12.4 percent better than those logged in February 2015 according to statistics recently released by the Port of New York and New Jersey. The 287,197 lifts executed in February 2016 also represent a new monthly record for the port. Loaded import containers totaled 148,048 units for a 7.4 percent increase over totals for February 2015. Loaded export containers totaled 61,278 units for an increase of 6.6 percent, while export empty containers totaled 76,037 units, representing an increase of 27.8 percent compared to February 2015. Port NY & NJ Sets New Cargo Volume Record in 2015

  Annual cargo volumes at the Port of New York and New Jersey beat the previous record by more than 10 percent according to figures released today. The port handled 6,371,720 20-foot equivalent units (TEUs) (or 3,664,013 cargo containers) in 2015, an increase of 10.4 percent over the previous record set in 2014.
